SoftTouch

The SoftTouch (aka MemoryTap) feature is only supported in the Overtus circuit. Overtus is just a modified Ethos circuit with the ADSens parameter (Adaptive Directionality Sensitivity) replaced by the MemoryTap parameter (still using the ADSens parameter name, though).

As it is now, there is no way to distinguish products between Ethos and Overtus chips, except for a Model Code in the chip. There is no special Model Code for Intuition 12 using Overtus circuits.

When the Overtus was implemented there was no way in the library to detect the new circuit. In ezFIT the assumption was always the assumption that Cue products came with SoftTouch and Intuition 12s did not. The change was implemented in scratch data because otherwise we would need a new product code for each style of Intuition 12.

Are some Intuition 12 now using the Overtus and others Ethos? The Intuition 12 with SoftTouch products were introduced in 2012, and they should all be using the Overtus circuit. If there was ever a product sold as Intuition 12 with SoftTouch that left the factory with an Ethos circuit, that would have been in error.

  • Intuition 12 using Ethos has been around since 4.20 (2008-12-24).
  • Cue using Overtus since 4.24 (2011-02-23).
  • Intuition 12 using Overtus

For this reason, we detect whether a product uses the Overtus circuit by looking at the scratch data now, particularly Word 10 bit 1. We store True (1) or False (0) if SoftTouch is available.
