Software Development Meeting 2010-Aug-02

Software Meeting Notes relevant to ezFIT 5.0 Milestones.

Attendees:

  • Barbara
  • Joel
  • AJ
  • Siegwart
Software Review
  • Sound Library.
  • Patient Information screen.
  • Reports screen.
Suggested Actions
  • Add “View All” patients checkbox, to prevent patient list from displaying (to meet HIPAA).
  • Add “Order Product” session event to Patient Info screen.
  • Add forms to print, and prefill them with known data.
  • Design forms (required fields, optional fields) with desired layout (Barbara).
  • Make distinction between Custom Branding vs. Private Labeling

Custom Branding vs. Private Labeling

Private Labeling

It includes custom Product Names, Logo, and labels in the ezFIT software, and user documentation. It does not stop a product from being read with another private label software (e.g. a Vista HI&A product is also read in Audina ezFIT).

  • The current private labels are:
    • Audifone (Brazil)
    • Audina (Germany)
    • Audi-Nat (Mexico)
    • Auditiva (Denmark)
    • Auri (Denmark)
    • BTE675DP Fitting (China)
    • HearingCentral
    • Newson (France)
    • Newsound(China)
    • Sonitech (USA)
    • TransEar (USA)
    • Vista HI & A (USA)
  • Challenges:
    • Tracking product names while doing support.
  • Hours
    • Software Engineering: 80-100 hours.
    • Marketing: 100-200 hours.
    • Audiology: 30-40 hours.
    • Production Training Time: unknown.
    • Production Re-Training Time: unknown.
  • Requires integrating into ezFIT:
    • Private product names list.
    • Splash logo (company ID).
    • Labels (changes within software).
    • User documentation.
    • Translation (in some instances).

Custom Branding

It includes all of private labeling features, and in addition includes special manufacturer code and custom software so there is no reading of Audina (or other custom brand) products.

  • The current custom brands are:
    • Audina
    • Auditiva
    • Sonetik (Switzerland)
    • PHSI (USA)
  • Challenges:
    • Tracking product names while doing support.
    • Require unique manufacturer ID code provided by chip manufacturer.
    • Provide branding tool for QC to load custom manufacturer ID code and potentially custom default values.
    • Provide custom software for QC to test instruments.
    • Provide Order Entry method for dealing with repairs.
    • Provide coordination with all affected parties (Production, Quality Control, Order Entry, Software Development, Audiology, and Sales).
    • Design processes with forward and backward compatibility in mind (i.e. maintain compatibility with ezFIT4 and ezFIT5 platforms).
  • Hours
    • Software Engineering: 240-320 hours.
    • Marketing: 300-500 hours.
    • Audiology: 80-120 hours.
    • Production Training Time: unknown.
    • Production Re-Training Time: unknown.
  • Requires
    • Chip supplier provide manufacturing ID code.
    • Interdepartmental coordination (impact in Production, Quality Control, Order Entry, Software Development, and Audiology support factors).
    • Software development for customization.
    • QC customization for software.
    • Product support education.

    • Solution Guides
      • Feedback/Whistling
      • Background Noise
      • Rushing Water / Fan Noise / Static / Circuit Noise

  • Meet to discuss and further define above algorithms when Steve is next in town.
Completed Actions

Custom Branding

  • Use Audina manufacturer ID code for all products, but differentiate brands by scratch memory code (assigned at Audina internally). Read this code to determine to whether give access to instrument settings.
    • Issue: Intuition 2 / Simplex 2P's circuit does not have enough scratch memory to support this feature.
    • Suggestion: Phase out Intuition 2 / Simplex 2P (DigitalOne2 circuit) in favor of a Spin based product (Intuition 2FC) or SpinNR based product (Intuition 2ER).
Product Cost (Custom) Cost (BTE) Avg MSRP
Intuition 2 $52.71 $85 $225
Intuition 2FC $55.21 $85 $250
Intuition 2ER $56.21 N/A $275
  • Use a separate QC machine for branding instruments, then process the instrument as normal (with additional checks for correct branding).
  • Route all orders (from different brands) to a single database (i.e. using custom ezFIT software should point to same shared databased, to avoid having orders in separate databases).
  • Provide single-day registration code in the ezFIT software for dealing with issues out in the field.

Algorithms

  • Prescriptions (and targets):
    • Implement Fitting Formula v.2, as currently used in ezFIT4.
    • Implement Fitting Formula v.3 for Intellio, and design formula for other products (retrofit them).
  • Autofits
    • Implement current ezFIT4 autofits that work well with Fitting Formula v.2.
    • Implement current ezFIT4 autofits used for Intellio that work well with Fitting Formula v.3.

Solutions Guide

  • Implement current ezFIT4 Solutions Guide.
