+  * **IPL:** Initial Program Load, which loads the program from disk, tape, or diskette. This is what determines how the system boots. It can be determined by choosing options on the control panel on the front of the machine. B N means to load data from the hard disk.  B M means manual boot (fast boot).

   * **APAR:** Authorized Program Analysis Report, a process to collect diagnostic data.
   * **DST:** Dedicated Service Tools.
   * **DSU:** Development Support Utility, which is basically an IDE for programming.

In essence, it is the Operating system for System/36 which is run on the Advanced 36 9402 Model 236 system.
