== Troubleshooting Guide == === Not Reading Instrument === # Using Audina cables (or Unitron cables)? * Only Audina (or Unitron) cables should be used. For the Nueve product, only the Nueve cables from Audina should be used. # Using CS54 flexstrips? * Only CS54 flexstrips are supported. These are about 1 inch long, and have 4 gold contacts. # Using HiPro? * Reset Hi-Pro: Disconnect the Hi-Pro power cable for 5 seconds. Alternatively, perform a Hi-Pro Update (in ezFIT: Tools > Hi-Pro Update). # Using correct programming box settings? * Check that the software is configured correctly under Tools > Options > Fitting (tab) > Programming Box # Using battery in instrument? * Remove it. It helps to determine if power is coming from the programming box and that there is good connectivity. The instrument should whistle when put inside your hand. # Using correct software version? * Check the [[ezfit:Software Requirement Matrix for Products]] for the instrument you are trying to read. === Error Communicating with Device Hi-Pro === # Using correct COM port? # The port must be between COM1 - COM4 for the Hi-Pro to work. COM5 and up are unusable. # See Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Ports (COM & LPT). # Select the Hi-Pro or adapter device and go to Port Settings > Advanced > COM Port Number to change it (must not be in use). # If multiple COM ports are in use but there is only one COM device listed under Ports (COM & LPT) follow the steps below. * Follow step 3 above for each port listed in use. * Finally set the COM port back to COM1. * Reboot the computer. * Perform a Hi-Pro test. # Using correct Hi-Pro drivers? * Reinstall ezFIT, and select the correct Hi-Pro drivers (most likely "Hi-Pro Classic"). * If selecting Hi-Pro USB, then verify that the Hi-Pro USB drivers (shipped with the programming box, or in the ezFIT installation CD-ROM) are also installed. * Restart the computer. # Run the Hi-Pro test. * In ezFIT 4 go to Tools>Hi-Pro Test. * In ezFIT 2012 click Tools, make sure the programming box is Hi-Pro and click the Test button. * The Hi-Pro test should manually be run as administrator in the following case. * The Hi-Pro test indicated the Hi-Pro was found. * You've closed and re-opened ezFIT. * When you try to detect the Hi-PRO activity lights are inactive. === Installing USB-Serial Adapter === # Installed USB-Serial adapter drivers? * Adapter drivers must be installed before connecting adapter to the computer. See the CDROM that came with the adapter package, or search for the drivers on the Internet. * For devices where the manufacturer is unknown see [[ezfit:Troubleshooting Guide#Unknown Devices]]. # Connected adapter? # Using correct serial port? * The port must be between COM1 - COM4 only for the Hi-Pro to work. * See Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Port (COM & LPT). * Select the device and go to Port Settings > Advanced > COM Port Number to change it (must not be in use). === Unknown Devices === # Double click on the device. # In the details tab look at the 'Hardware IDs' property. # Make a note of the Hex numbers. These will be your vendor id and product/device id. (note: These may be listed as VID, VEN, PID or DEV) # Do a search on http://www.pcidatabase.com/ for your device id and find the vendor in the list that comes up. * If the device id gives no results try the vendor id so you can at least try to find a website for more information. === Troubleshooting Flowcharts === {{:ezfit:ezfit-troubleshootingguide-notreadinghi.gif|ezFIT Troubleshooting: Not Reading Hearing Instrument}} {{:ezfit:ezfit-troubleshootingguide-programmingissues.gif|ezFIT Troubleshooting: Common Programming Issues}} {{:ezfit:ezfit-troubleshootingguide-softwareinstallation.gif|ezFIT Troubleshooting: Software Installation}}
